Basic concept is an online-system, in which users can enter unique referable map-points und unique referable way-routes into maps. The single map-points (places) and routes can be annotated with additional informations (texts, images, videos, sounds, links). Each from users created map-point and route will be referenceable inside the system and from the outside with a preferably short hash-code (similiar to tinyurl.com), so users can use and share that unique hash-code (in conjunction with the matching Geomnesia-URLs).
The name "Geomnesia" is an artificial word, which describes the "remembrance of/to a place". When one sees reports of historic locations/places and listens to some contemporary witness, which is talking about former times there, one wants possibly to get an overview about where everything has been and how it looked there, back then. With Geomnesia this is visualizable.
